Rufus Abernathy, 59, former Clinton resident, died in Newark, NJ Wednesday at 5 a.m. following an illness of 12 years. Mr. Abernathy was a resident of Clinton and Rosedale, before moving to Newark in 1931 and was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America at Cates, Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Anna; one daughter, Miss Della Abernathy both of Rosedale and one brother, Homer, Covington, Ind. The body will arrive in Clinton this afternoon and will be taken to the Frist Funeral Home until funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper’s Chapel, near Covington, Ind. Burial will be in Coopers’ Chapel cemetery. – kbz
